Cast for The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 and Arsenic and Old Lace
PLEASE READ!!!!
Casting shows is always a difficult heartache, and this play was no exception. Let me reiterate, casting this show was HARD. I am truly blessed to have so much student support and talent, and yet it is a curse when I have to cut so many talented, hard-working people. Let me reiterate, I had to cut TALENTED, HARD WORKING PEOPLE.
If you were cast, congratulations! The first rehearsal is on Monday, September 19th from 5:30-6:30PM in the Dargusch Theater (Studio Theater, high school room 4201). I will be handing out scripts and packets, and cast members will have their pictures and measurements taken. If for any reason you cannot attend this first rehearsal, please e-mail me at rebecca.rhinehart@bexleyschools.org as soon as possible so I know you accept your role and can arrange to get you all your materials. The rehearsal calendar and scene breakdown will be available on Sakai shortly, as well as the cast packet with all the forms you need.
If you were not cast, please don’t be hard on yourself. I cannot even count the number of times I have been cut from a show, but it has hurt every time and I know it’s hard not to take it personally. Casting is a giant puzzle, and sometimes not all the pieces fit. Casting was done based on who could do each part well and work well with students in other parts. Because of such a large turnout, half of the people who auditioned couldn’t be cast. I’d love to have you on crew! Please attend the crew meeting tomorrow on Thursday, September 18th from 3:30-4:30PM in the Schottenstein Theater or see me in order to sign up. You are a valuable member of the theatre department, and the worst thing that can happen would be to make this your last theatre experience.
There are many other opportunities to be involved in theatre at Bexley as well. This year there will be a one act in December and January to take to Central Area Thespian Conference as well as the ever popular spring musical, Beauty and the Beast. We are also having a playwright teaching workshops in November, so look for that as well. Plus there are a ton of field trips and events such as the ice cream social this Sunday on Sept. 18th from 7-9PM at 829 Francis and Renaissance Festival. Please e-mail me if you need details.
Women’s auditions for St. Charles’ fall play, Dead Man Walking, are on September 20th and 21st at 4PM at the St. Charles’ Theater. If men are interested in auditioning for a CSG play, come see me and I’ll figure out the details.
