Audition Information
YouTheatre Auditions (Grades 1-5)

Circus Olympus

Who can audition:  grades 3-5

Auditions:
January 4th for last names A-L
January 5th for last names M-Z 
5:30-7:30PM
Cassingham Theater

Students who cannot attend their scheduled audition may audition on the other date.

Prepare:  A short poem to recite using voice and body movement to create emotions, character, and excitement.  It is recommended that the poem be memorized as it gives the actor greater freedom. Shel Silverstein poems are great to use.

Bring:  clothes you can move in, a pen or pencil

Auditioners will be asked to act out their poems, demonstrate basic acting techniques, and read parts from the script.

Aesop's Fables Drama Camp

Who can participate:  Grades 1-2

There are no auditions in order to participate in this three week drama camp, however space is very limited so turn in your application as soon as possible.  Applications will be mailed to parents in March, however you may e-mail rebecca.rhinehart@bexleyschools.org if you want an application earlier.

Middle School (plus grade 6) Fall Play

Who can audition:  Grades 6-8

Auditions:
Sept 7th 
3:30-6:00PM

Bring:  clothes you can move in and a pen or pencil

You do not need to prepare a monologue in order to audition.

Auditioners will be asked to demonstrate basic acting techniques as well as read parts from the script.

Once Upon a Mattress

Middle School (plus grade 6) Winter Musical

Who can audition:  grades 6-8

Auditions:
Oct 24th and 25th from 3:30-6:30 Schottenstein Theater

Callbacks:
Oct 26th from 3:30-6:30 Schottenstein Theater

Bring:  clothes you can move in and a pen or pencil

You do not need to prepare any materials.

The first day auditioners will learn a short dance and then perform it.  They will then learn some short songs.

The second day auditioners will sing the songs and do some acting and script reading.

On callbacks, auditioners will be asked to sing, act and dance specific parts in the script.  Even if you aren't called back, you may still be on the cast list.

You do not need to prepare a monologue in order to audition

Auditioners will be asked to demonstrate basic acting techniques as well as read parts from the script.

There are two parts that require specific accents.  One is a woman who must do a German accent.  The second is a man who must do a German and an Irish accent.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast

High school Spring Musical

Who can audition:  grades 9-12

Auditions:
March 12th and 13th from 3:30-7:30 Schottenstein Theater

Callbacks: 
March 14th from 3:30-7:30 Schottenstein Theater

Bring:  clothes you can move in and a pen or pencil

Preparation:  If you want a lead character, you must prepare a short song to sing on the first day.  Please bring sheet music.  It is highly recommended that this song come from a musical.  If you wish to be in the chorus, you do not need to prepare a song.

The first day auditioners will sing songs in order to audition for a lead and then learn a short dance and song

The second day auditioners will sing the songs, perform the dance, and do some acting and script reading.

On callbacks, auditioners will be asked to sing, act and dance specific parts in the script.  Even if you aren't called back, you may still be on the cast list.
